Tuesday, May 31, 2016

The Surrey Immigrant Integration Strategy 2016-2019 was presented to and adopted by Surrey Council and Mayor at the May 30th Council meeting. The Strategy was developed based on year and a half of research and consultations with over 1,000 residents, community groups and organizations and settlement agencies. Earlier this year, the Strategy was adopted by a Surrey LIP Committee which spearheaded the process of developing a 3-year community plan.

The Strategy has five Strategic Directions, over 20 objectives and 80 actions. The five strategic directions are:

  1. Accessible Services
  2. Engaged Community
  3. Meaningful Employment
  4. Thriving Youth
  5. Sustainable Leadership

The Strategy identifies concrete timelines for each action and suggested stakeholders to lead each action.
