Municipal Elections in Surrey
Monday, September 17, 2018

On Saturday, October 20, 2018 eligible voters will cast their ballot to elect one (1) Mayor, eight (8) Councillors and six (6) School Trustees for School District No. 36 (Surrey).

A focus for 2018 is enhancing the voter experience to make voting easy!

During the general election on October 20, voting locations have currently been secured at 47 Surrey schools and 10 City facilities with the potential for others to be added.

Advance Voting Opportunities will be held on October 6, 10, 11 and 13 from 8:00am to 8:00pm at six convenient locations; these same locations will also be used during the general election.

Surrey residents will find that these additional opportunities and increased locations are walkable from home, convenient to transit, on their way to work, next door to their favourite shops or where they spend time in their community. These accumulative enhancements for the 2018 election are in line with our emphasis to create a positive voter experience.

A Voter Guide will be delivered in late September to approximately 140,000 households in Surrey. These guides will contain profiles of each Candidate, along with a pull-out of the City map showing voting locations. This guide has been used successfully in the past by providing valuable information to voters.

Voter Card packages (up to nine (9) cards per package) will be delivered by mail in late September or early October to all Surrey residents who are listed with Elections BC. We encourage you to take this card to the voting location to help streamline the voting process. Please remember to check that your name is clearly marked on the card.

Your decision for Mayor, Councillors and School Trustees in the election will shape your community’s future. On October 20, vote for who will best represent your vision of our great City!
