I am an executive member of the Somali Youth Association of British Columbia.

Interest in the Advisory:

The reason why I became interested in the Immigrant Advisory Roundtable is because I have experienced multiple challenges back in settlement in Canada 2010.

Immigrant challenges:

The biggest challenge for immigrants, including myself, is building connections with communities and the process of resettlement.  I came to Canada when I was 15 and spoke only my native language which is Somali and I couldn't use it because I was in a English speaking country.

Vision for Surrey:

My vision  for Surrey is to be a better place for the newcomers.
